Have you ever asked the question, “Do I even matter?”
All of us struggle with our sense of self worth now and then. For some of us, this can be an ongoing struggle that stems from painful past hurts or damaging words spoken over our lives. These painful memories can reply in our hearts over and over again like a broken record, whispering to us when we wake up, and taunting us throughout the day. Isn’t it time to turn off the old tapes, and tune in to the love of God?
The truth is we matter to God.
The Bible reveals that our identity is directly connected with our Father in heaven. It comes from who He is (our Creator and our Redeemer), and what He has done for us. Jesus paid the ultimate price for us on the cross, which makes us of great value to God.
The devil comes with his bended and partial truths to trick us into believing we’re worthless. This is just one of his many lies. The truth is, God says we are worth dying for as evidenced by Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross (John 3:16).
Our enemy would have us believe that we don’t matter, or that we were a mistake. But God says we were created by Him for His purposes (Col 1:16). That purpose is to walk in a personal and close relationship with Him: the Creator of the heavens and the earth!
Yes, we matter. Our worth is rooted in His great love for us.
