More often than not, recovering from the trauma of abuse tends to open up a wild mix of emotions and feelings. Dealing with these emotions and working through how they are affecting our lives is a critical part of healing from the past. When we finally realize the full weight of what was taken by those who abused us, feelings of hurt and anger tend to creep up on us in unexpected ways.
What was once pressed down under the surface, neatly tucked away, is now beginning to effect different areas of our lives. This is normal and it will pass, with God’s help. The key is to recognize where the feelings are coming from and then dealing with them.
