I have heard this said so many times, haven’t you? I’ve sung the song, “Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so….” I have told others this simple message time and again. Why then do I still struggle with this knowledge at different times in my life? I know he loves me, but I don’t always live like I believe it.
How about you?
For me, I struggle because I don’t always feel lovable. I don’t always feel worthy of God’s love. The fact of the matter is, we aren’t worthy of his love. The beauty of God’s love, however, is this…it is unconditional. It is not based on our worthiness or unworthiness. It doesn’t matter what we’ve done or haven’t done. God loves us just the same.
John 3:16 illuminates this for us in this, “For God so LOVED the WORLD…”
The world involves everyone…the good, the bad, the loved…and the not so lovable. You see, God loves us in our mess…in our sin…at our weakest and worst points. God’s love is unconditional. He doesn’t wait to love us when we have it all together, he meets us where we are at and loves us there.
Friend, God loves you and there is nothing you can do about it!
The key to experiencing the fullness of God’s love in your life is to believe it and receive it. To believe it, means to trust in it. If God says it is so, then it is so. Trust it.
To receive it means to accept it. When we accept God’s love, through faith in his Son Jesus, we are allowing God to enter into our heart and begin to transform us from the inside out.
Believe it and receive it friend! God loves you and there is nothing you can do about it!
