When we experience God’s love…better yet, when we believe in (trust), and receive (accept) God’s love we will experience a transformation like nothing we’ve ever seen! Better than any extreme makeover a person can get!
I recently spoke at a women’s event at Dove’s Nest in Charlotte, NC. The Dove’s Nest is a part of Charlotte Rescue Mission, which is a ministry designed to help men and women recover from the painful strongholds of drug addiction. My message was very simple, “God loves you!” I spoke about how God’s love is unconditional, sacrificial, and transformational.
It was God’s transformational love that several of the women there seemed most interested in, at least those that I had a chance to speak with after my talk. They wanted to be transformed by God’s love. They wanted forgiveness and healing. God surely showed up, and met these ladies where they were and it was a beautiful thing!
John 3:16 says this, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” (NIV)
This is a very significant passage, because it illuminates God’s transformational love. When we place our hope in Christ we go from death to life. To “perish” means to die. Death in scripture often means separation from God. Sin separates us from God. We have all sinned and made mistakes but when we place our hope in Christ, and receive God’s forgiveness for our sins, we are transformed by His love! We go from death to life.
We are no longer separated from God by our sin, but we can now experience life in Christ…forever! That life is one that is blessed, whole, full of favor, rich in grace and mercy, and abundant in love. We are transformed into a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), and our old “self” is no more and everything becomes new!
It all starts with believing in (trusting) and receiving (accepting) God’s love…his unconditional, sacrificial and transformational love! When we do we are transformed, and able to experience the beauty and power of a close relationship with God.
