We are preparing for our first family mission trip this summer to Nicaragua. If you’ve ever gone on a mission trip, then you will be able to identify with our financial leap of faith as a family. I’ve gone from “Woohoo, Yes! We are excited to do this together with God…”, to “Ok…now, how are we going to afford to do this thing together with God?”
Here are the facts: The trip costs $2,200 per person. Yikes! There are four of us, so that’s $8,800 we are to raise before April 20th. That’s two months away….55 days to be exact, but who’s counting, right? Letters have gone out, family fund raising activities are underway.
Now, I am trying to keep my eyes on Jesus and not on the checkbook! It’s not easy. I generally don’t worry about finances (my husband does enough of that for both of us). In spite of my brewing anxiety over our “leap of faith”, however, I’ve felt this sense from the Lord that He’s got this. If it is His will for us to go, the finances will be there. That simple.
When we leap in faith, towards the things of God, He is our safety net. One way or another, He works everything together for the good of those who love Him…
Have you taken a “leap of faith” lately?
