I have been chewing on Gen. 1:27 this past week …about how we are made in the image of God and what that means exactly…[now don’t laugh, but I always thought it meant we literally looked like him somehow…but then I realized God is spirit, so he doesn’t have a body (duh, Crystal)]…So I dug a little deeper. This is what “made in his image” really means: When God gave Adam his breath of life he imparted his likeness [his beauty] to all mankind. It’s not a physical beauty, because God is spirit. Instead, it is an inner beauty. We resemble him mentally, morally, and socially and we reflect his image best when we pursue our passion, work, create, build, love, forgive, act justly, live right, serve others, and engage in community and close relationships.
It doesn’t matter what the world may say about us [or our own family for that matter]. We are beautiful because we are God breathed.
I needed this reminder, what about you?
