This weekend is the start of a new adventure for me. I open CrysSutherlandDesign, an online Etsy Shop to share my paintings with a broader audience.
Honestly, I’m a little concerned.
What if it completely flops? I’ve had plenty of “flops” and failures in my life…another one just might put me in good standing with the Guinness Book of World Records (no joke).
I’ve been artsy since as far back as I can remember, but started painting consistently about three years ago. It started out as a means to relax, more than create. Then, my work started getting some interest. A local gallery and gift shop in Davidson, NC started carrying some of my paintings, and to my surprise…they actually sold. This year marks my second year as a vendor with The Sanctuary at Davidson, and I’m still so thankful (and surprised) they carry my work among all the beautiful artwork and handmade crafts displayed there.
But, I’ve discovered something.
I love to paint, and God can use this little hobby of mine for a greater purpose.
That is my hope – being used for God’s greater purposes.
CrySutherlandDesign is not fancy. I’m not a fine art graduate. In fact, the last art class I took was in high school (we won’t discuss how long ago that was). I’m just a chick who loves Jesus, and I like to paint things that reflect His light in me.
If you have time, stop by my shop this Saturday. The first three people to purchase something from my store will receive a special gift!
It’s a humble start, but it’s a happy place. Proceeds from my shop, as well as my upcoming book release #JourneyToHeal, will be used to support ministries that are actively working to end childhood sexual abuse (#CSA), and aid victims and survivors in the journey to heal. Ministries like Darkness to Light and Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center in Charlotte, NC. I hope you’ll visit the shop this weekend, and help me spread the word!
