“You can have all this world, just give me Jesus” – Jeremy Camp
Do you know that song by Jeremy Camp? I don’t remember all the lyrics, and I get the tune wrong on the verse, but that simple refrain is embedded in my soul.
“Just give me Jesus.”
Our home here in Wilmington is blooming with Azalea’s all around. Spring has sprung and it is GORGEOUS! It makes me think of home. Not the home where we live, but what our heavenly home must be like.
Thinking of my heavenly home takes my mind off of ugly things happening in our world today: the election where it seems we’re losing our dignity as a nation, the recent Brussel’s terrorist attack where many innocent people have lost their lives, and the plethora of other ongoing issues concerning race, gender equality, Obama Care, and the ever-increasing national debt.
Perhaps you’ve been discouraged lately, too. Maybe you’re like me and you’ve been thinking about home.
Isn’t it good to have a friend like Jesus? One we can talk to about our troubles, and who listens to our worries and concerns? One who actually has the power to change our circumstances, for good?
I’m leaning on him today, friends. There is a great deal going on within our family right now. Good and not so great. With the book release coming up for Journey to Heal, and all that goes with that, I’m trying to keep my head on straight and not allow myself to become discouraged or distracted by what is going on around me, but rather encouraged and strengthened by the King of all kings, Jesus.
He is really all that matters in this life, and there is nothing that could ever bring us peace and comfort the way he can. This old song reminds me of that truth, now more than ever. I hope as you read this you remember, too.
“You can have all this world, just give me Jesus….”
