If you’re like me you’ve just taken your Christmas tree down, put away the last bit of decorations and have taken the final load of “excess” to Goodwill! Isn’t it a good feeling? Having my house in order makes my insides happy, even if I am a bit slow in getting there!
Thanksgiving and Christmas were BUSY for us. Lot’s of traveling and good family time was had by all. But that week after Christmas is the best, isn’t it? I hope you had a nice visit with family and friends and were able to get some time to rest as well.
I was able to carve out some needed downtime that last week of the month to reflect on last year and just breath a bit. Honestly, I crave that time. Don’t you? Quiet…peaceful…rest. A good read, hot tea, and a cozy blanket are good medicine.
I looked back on 2017 and reflected on a lot. God has done so much this year, within our family and with Journey to Heal, and the ministry and beautiful community of women that has developed out of that book. He is so faithful, and I’m grateful beyond words. I wrote some of these things down in my journal to help me remember this truth in the year ahead.
I know 2018 will have its share of good and bad days, so when I have bad days where it feels like nothing is going right I can look at this list and know God is faithful. I’m calling it my “God is Faithful” list (clever, right?).
Here are some of the highlights specifically concerning JTH Ministry for 2017…
Journaling highlights from the year was an interesting exercise. It reminded me that I’m surrounded by some amazing people I get to call friends. People who have invested time, energy, prayers, wisdom and financial support so that the message of hope and healing found in Journey to Heal can reach survivors all over the country. I am so grateful for each and every one of them. It also showed me that I’m loved deeply by God and because of His love I can love others well. God is faithful in so many ways.
It’s the last week of January 2018, and I’m so excited for the possibilities ahead. God has encouraged me to remain faithful to Him, my family, and this ministry to survivors of sexual abuse. For that reason, my word for 2018 is “Faithful.”
What is your list from 2017? Have you taken any time to reflect on where you’ve been and what God has done? If not, why not? I encourage you to do that for yourself.
Consider journaling what you’ve been a part of, what you’ve accomplished, how you’ve been blessed, and what good relationships have come about. It will make your insides happy to see where God has been faithful in your life and to know that you have loved and have been loved in many beautiful ways.
Stay tuned for some big news for Journey to Heal Ministries coming in February. I’m excited to share what is next for this ministry of healing and restoration for women.
Many blessings, friends.
