You gave your heart to Christ years ago, but you don’t really talk to him much today. The idea of prayer overwhelms you, and though you have things you’d like to say you just don’t know how to put the words together?
So many believers struggle when it comes to a prayer life.
“How do I pray? When do I pray? Will it make a difference in my situation anyway?”
I started my own prayer life by writing my prayers down on paper. I loved writing anyway, and it just seemed to be easier to talk to God that way when I first began my walk with Him. I filled journal after journal, and not only developed a healthy prayer life, but a wealth of answered prayers and documented events that testified to the faithfulness of God in my life.
God wants us to come to him. With everything. Whatever the situation, we can take our needs to him. Big or small. He doesn’t want us to carry the weight of them on our own, and provides us a means to unload our stresses, trials, burdens, issues, hopes, dreams, passions and struggles on him in exchange for peace.
Philippians 4:6 encourages us in this,
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding (doesn’t make logical sense to us) will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
God isn’t as concerned about how we pray, just that we pray. If you have something to say, and just don’t know how to start…try writing it down. See what God will do, and watch the conversation grow!
